2025 Internship Program Open at African Development Bank. The AfDB 2025 Internship Program – Session 2 is now accepting applications until 31 May 2025. This highly regarded internship by the African Development Bank offers paid, career-building opportunities to master’s students and recent graduates from member countries. Interns will gain critical experience in global development, finance, sustainability, and governance — working either remotely or at AfDB headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The African Development Bank (AfDB), founded in 1964, is the primary pan-African institution driving economic transformation and social progress across the continent. With 81 member states—54 of which are in Africa—the Bank delivers strategic investment and policy solutions to reduce poverty and enable inclusive development.

The AfDB Internship Program – Session 2 is designed to attract bright, driven young professionals for a 3–6 month structured training experience, starting in July 2025. Participants will be placed in departments that align with their studies, including legal, finance, agriculture, IT, procurement, governance, and more.
This opportunity provides real-time exposure to development finance, multilateral cooperation, cross-sector project delivery, and international teamwork — all within a globally respected African institution.
Tasks
As part of the internship, selected candidates will contribute to:
- Policy research, financial reporting, or program implementation
- Drafting reports, technical documents, or presentations for internal use
- Evaluating project proposals, strategies, and performance data
- Providing technical and administrative support to Bank departments
- Participating in knowledge-sharing workshops and training sessions
- Supporting specific missions in agriculture, sustainability, governance, ICT, and other key sectors
Interns may work in diverse areas such as infrastructure, education, health, data analysis, gender equity, procurement, environment, legal services, and communications, depending on departmental needs.
Qualifications (Education and Certification, Experience)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a national of an AfDB member country
- Be enrolled in a master’s degree program at a recognized higher learning institution, or apply within one year of completing such a degree
- Be under the age of 30 at the start of the internship
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Good communication skills in either English or French (working languages of AfDB)
- Analytical mindset, research ability, and attention to detail
- Capability to work independently or as part of a diverse, multicultural team
- Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is an added advantage
- Must provide proof of enrollment or recent graduation (e.g., university letter or certificate)
